The pattern

Give the house an outdoor room at its centre. Arrange living spaces around a shaded gallery so everyday routes pass the patio, with places to pause beside water and planting.

This study draws on the courtyard houses of Córdoba and Seville: whitewashed walls, flowerpots, tiled surfaces and galleries beneath clay roofs. It is an interpretation of a varied regional tradition.
